Kajukenbo was introduced in the Northern Virginia area by Sigung Richard Cruz (direct student of Grand Master Woody Sims). Kajukenbo is an effective self defense system comprised of Karate, Judo, Jiujitsu, Kenpo and Chinese Boxing. Sigung Cruz is now located in Tucson, Arizona. Sigung Cruz's First Student, Sifu Larry Amante is still located in the Virginia area.
Kajukenbo was developed in Hawaii in the 1940s, and founded by Sijo Adriano D. Emperado in 1947.
